About AVIT Boston
The story of AVIT Boston begins in the early 1990s, sparked by a natural curiosity for how electronics worked. What started with taking apart devices, adjusting TV antennas, and troubleshooting cassette tapes quickly evolved into a deeper understanding of both analog and emerging digital technology. Growing up during a major technological shift provided a unique advantage—bridging the gap between traditional systems and modern innovations.
Alongside this technical curiosity was a strong creative drive. From building model airplanes to exploring digital design, these early experiences developed a foundation of patience, precision, and attention to detail. This combination of technical knowledge and craftsmanship continues to define the quality of work delivered today.
Music and sound also played a major role in shaping that passion. From classic rock to electronic and progressive genres, the connection between audio, technology, and experience became clear. That interest naturally expanded into car audio—learning system design, proper wiring, and clean installations—further strengthening both technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
With over 20 years of hands-on experience, the journey progressed from working as a Comcast contractor to installing home theater systems for major retailers like Circuit City, and later serving clients across Nantucket, Boston, and Newton. Along the way, expertise grew not only in installation, but also in system design, customer service, and project management.
In 2022, AVIT Boston was founded with a clear mission: to deliver high-quality home entertainment and automation solutions with precision, reliability, and a personal touch. Today, that same passion for technology and craftsmanship drives every project—creating seamless, immersive experiences tailored to each client’s space and lifestyle.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Behind AVIT Boston
What inspired you to start AVIT Boston?
AVIT Boston grew from a desire to deliver technology projects differently. After years of working in the industry, I saw how much better the client experience could be when sales, design, project management, installation, scheduling, inventory, and follow-up were all handled with greater attention to detail.
By the end of 2021, I was ready to take everything I had learned and build something of my own. AVIT Boston officially launched in 2022 with a focus on better organization, stronger communication, higher-quality installations, and a more personal relationship with every client. I wanted the people I worked with to feel like they were working directly with someone who was invested in their project from beginning to end.
How did your background in electronics and technology lead to AVIT Boston?
My interest in electronics started long before it became a career. Growing up during the transition from analog to digital technology in the 1990s gave me a unique perspective on how modern systems evolved. I spent years taking electronics apart, putting them back together, troubleshooting computers and internet connections, and experimenting with stereo equipment, wiring, connections, and signal paths.
That hands-on background became a major advantage professionally. I understand both the physical installation side and the programming and technical side of a system. Some professionals gravitate toward programming while others prefer wiring and installation. I genuinely enjoy both. That allows me to look at the complete system, understand how every component works together, and troubleshoot problems from multiple angles.
Just as important, I have built relationships with reliable vendors who support what I do. I place a great deal of value on those relationships because dependable products and dependable people both contribute to a better result for the client.
What services does AVIT Boston specialize in?
AVIT Boston provides a range of residential and commercial AV, automation, and technology solutions, but some of my strongest specialties are structured wiring, equipment racks, and audio system design.
That includes wiring for new construction and renovations, organizing and building equipment racks, planning speaker placement, designing audio systems, and bringing those systems to life through careful installation and programming.
Audio is especially important to me because music has always been one of my biggest passions. There is something rewarding about designing a system that does more than simply work. The goal is to create sound that fits the room, the property, and the way the client actually wants to experience music or entertainment.
What types of residential and commercial clients does AVIT Boston serve?
On the residential side, many projects involve TV installations, dedicated home theaters, whole-home audio, smart-home automation, lighting control, networking, and integrated technology for homeowners who want a more refined and convenient experience.
Commercially, AVIT Boston frequently works with restaurants and other businesses that need reliable audio, televisions, networking, control systems, and technology that is easy for employees to operate.
Whether the project is a single entertainment space or a more complex property-wide system, the approach is the same: understand how the space will actually be used and design the technology around it.
What makes AVIT Boston different from other smart-home and AV installers?
One of the biggest differences is continuity. I remain involved throughout the project, from the initial conversation and product research to system design, installation, programming, testing, and service. That means important details are less likely to get lost between a salesperson, designer, project manager, installer, and programmer.
I also take a reverse-engineering approach to many projects. I start by determining exactly how the finished installation should look, feel, and operate, then work backward to determine the best wiring, equipment, mounting methods, programming, and installation strategy required to achieve that result.
Aesthetics are a major part of that process. Technology should complement a premium space rather than distract from it. Wiring, equipment racks, televisions, speakers, controls, and other components are installed with the appearance of the finished room in mind.
I am equally comfortable doing the hands-on work behind the walls and cabinets as I am programming and configuring the technology afterward. That combination allows AVIT Boston to handle responsibilities that often require several different specialists while maintaining consistency throughout the project.
How do you customize each system around the client's property, lifestyle, and budget?
It starts with listening and asking questions.
Rather than beginning with a predetermined equipment package, I want to understand how the client uses the space, what they enjoy, what frustrates them about their current technology, what features matter most, and what they would rather avoid.
From there, I recommend solutions that make sense for that particular client. If a feature does not provide meaningful value to them, there is no reason to complicate the system by adding it. The goal is to create technology that feels natural to the property and the people using it while remaining mindful of the client's priorities and budget.
What should customers expect during the consultation and installation process?
Customers should expect questions, communication, education, and respect for their property.
During the consultation, I ask detailed questions so I can understand both the technical requirements and what the client expects from the finished system. Throughout the project, I communicate what is happening, explain important decisions, and help the client understand how their technology will work.
Respect for the property is equally important. That includes protecting floors and surfaces, removing shoes when appropriate, keeping work areas organized, and returning furniture or other items to their proper place when the work is complete.
The goal is not simply to install equipment. It is to provide a professional experience from the first conversation through the final walkthrough.
How do you make smart-home technology easy to understand and use?
Good technology should simplify someone's day, not create another problem they have to figure out.
I explain systems in practical terms that relate to how the client already uses their home or business. I also avoid recommending technology that is unnecessarily complicated or difficult to operate.
For homeowners, I can make additional visits when needed to reinforce instructions and answer questions after they have had time to use the system. For businesses, I can provide straightforward written instructions that owners and managers can share with employees.
A successful installation is one that the client feels comfortable using after I leave.
What brands, platforms, and technical experience does AVIT Boston work with?
AVIT Boston has extensive hands-on experience with professional AV, smart-home, lighting, entertainment, and audio technologies. Platforms and brands commonly used include Control4, Lutron, Sony, Samsung, LG, and Sonos.
More than 20 years of hands-on technology experience also provides a strong foundation for system design, wiring, troubleshooting, equipment integration, programming, networking, and installation.
Rather than choosing products simply because of a brand name, equipment is selected based on compatibility, reliability, performance, and how well it fits the client's specific project.
What values guide your workmanship and customer service?
Honesty, accountability, craftsmanship, responsiveness, and attention to detail guide every AVIT Boston project.
I want clients to feel confident that they do not have to constantly check behind me or wonder whether something is being handled correctly. I hold the work to my own standards, even when those standards may be higher than what the client would ever notice or request.
That includes details that may never be visible once the project is finished. If wiring will eventually be hidden behind a wall or equipment will sit in the back of a cabinet, I still want that work organized and completed correctly.
Being proactive is equally important. I would rather identify a potential issue, communicate it, and solve it early than wait for the client to discover it later.
What do you want customers to feel after working with AVIT Boston?
Ideally, I want them to think, “I wish I had called AVIT Boston sooner.”
Whether we simplified a frustrating technology setup, improved the way a home looks and functions, created a better entertainment experience, or made a commercial system easier for employees to operate, the goal is for clients to immediately recognize the difference thoughtful design and quality workmanship can make.
